Ongoing Fundraisers

Scholastic Book Fair

PALS hosts the Scholastic Book Fair each October at Robin Hall. This is an opportunity for our students to get excited about reading, to purchase new books, and an opportunity for our parents and staff to encourage our young readers.
PALS does not raise money at this fundraiser, rather we take payment in books and then donate them to our wonderful teachers and to our school libraries. This insures our teachers have fantastic new reading materials for their classrooms and that our libraries are updated as often as possible.

PALS needs volunteers to sell books before and after school, set up & take down of the book fair, and track books donated to teachers and our school libraries. If you would like to volunteer, please contact PALS.

Family Fun Night

Our biggest PALS event of the year! Family Fun Night combines a school carnival for the kids and a silent auction for the adults. Food, drinks and adult beverages are available for purchase at the event!

Dinner and entry tickets are sold in advance and families can also purchase individual tickets for fun activities like face-painting, shave ice, super slide, treats and candy sales, wall of jars and much more.

While the kids are busy playing carnival games, the parents can peruse the silent auction tables. Awesome themed baskets from each class are available to bid on as well as donations from local businesses and Franklin Academy families. Gift cards, overnight stays, watches, spa packages for mom and gifts for dad are all available. The biggest sellers are the kid-centric auction items, like summer camps, swim lessons, art and music classes as well as family items like whale watching trips, zoo and museum passes, hosted birthday parties, and more.

Family Fun Night helps bring in a lot of money for PALS, but more importantly, it is a tremendously fun family event!  We hope you will be a part of the fun!

For more info, to donate or to volunteer, please email PALS.

Jr. Ski-to-Sea Parade

Every year, Franklin Academy puts together a “float” for the children’s Jr. Ski-to-Sea Parade in Downtown Bellingham. Our kids help decorate our float at school all week. And then any student at Franklin Academy is welcome to meet at the start of the parade and be a part of the Franklin Academy parade march.

We usually meet early to pass out pom-poms, get faces painted, decorate bikes and have some snacks. Younger kids are welcome to ride on the float (pick-up truck) or walk or scooter with their parents. Older kids are allowed to ride their bike.

Kids are welcome to dress up in costume like knights and princesses, in uniform, Spirit Wear or school colors of red, white and navy.

Walk-A-Thon

Our Walk-A-Thon is a hugely popular event and is held this year at the Markell Hall.

Student get pledges for each lap the run. The more laps, the more money they earn for their school! Donors are able to select a per lap donation or a straight donation.

End of Year Picnic

All students and their families are invited to attend the End of Year Picnic at Lake Padden Park. Hamburgers and Hot dogs are served and each grade is assigned to bring a side dish or beverage.

Our PE teachers have many fun field events planned like tug-of-war, water balloon tosses and sack races. Students enjoy playing in the water, chasing friends, and fishing along the bank. We do ask no water guns are brought to the park, and no tree climbing!

PALS hosts the end-of year’s thank you’s to our volunteers and good bye’s to any retiring staff.

This event is a great end to another great year!

Passive Fundraising

Dinner “Knight” Out

Dinner Knights Out was started by PALS as a social event and passive fundraiser. Many restaurants in the community are willing to partner up with local schools and non-profits and give back a portion of the night’s receipts.  Franklin Academy is lucky to have several restaurant families that are willing to host Dinner Knights Out!

Our students have really enjoyed our past events, and they love seeing all of their friends outside of school. It is even more exciting to see their favorite teacher, because everyone knows, teachers never leave school!

Important notes: You may want to make reservations, restaurants do get busy during prime hours. Feel free to invite family, Grandparents, friends and neighbors! Please let your server know you are a Franklin Academy family so your receipt is counted in the donation. Please tip your server well! We appreciate the extra support needed for a school event!

Used Uniform Sales

The Used uniform sales is one of our biggest fundraisers. Simply drop off clothing that is too small for your student and we will sell it. It is time-saving and cost-effective to purchase items for your student here. Sweatshirts, PE T-shirts, sweaters, vests, skirts, jumpers, pants and polos are usually available in assorted sizes.

Be sure to drop off clothing that is CLEAN and in good wearable condition: No large stains, rips, tears, excessive fading or wear.

By appointment only! Contact Amanda Younger at uniforms@thefranklin.academy. New uniforms can be purchased online at Land’s End.

 Box Tops for Education

Box tops are an easy way for our school to make money. Snip off any box tops on marked packages and return them in your handy manila envelope. We make $.10 per box top. Make sure you turn in your box tops regularly. We have two deadlines, Nov 1st and March 1st, but we accept them year round.
